About This Project
What looks like a rich stain applied to the natural woodgrain of these exposed beams, is in fact a completely hand applied faux finish done over flat white paint. The grain of this wood was completely obscured by years of paint and then reapplied by an expert, artistic graining technique, after intensive attention was paid to sanding and smoothing every flat and curved surface.
To accent the beams, we applied another unique effect to the large drywall segments that sat between the beams. Much of the work here was, in fact, sculptural! It was accomplished with a special, artistic application of drywall paste to mimic an old-world classic Italian plaster finish and then accented with a rich, distressed paint application to match the rich browns of the beams.
