That picture is NOT of a house that caught fire. Believe it or not, that’s water damage!
Sunrooms and skylights are inherently poised to be devastating problems in your home if they aren’t built perfectly. This project started as a simple refresh remodel and turned to a worst case scenario when we peaked behind the drywall. It was more than anyone bargained for, but never more than we could handle.
In this case, improperly installed fascia board and skylight lead to rotted beams, roof rafters and almost an entire wall! We diagnosed and fixed the damage, while making sure this family experiences nothing of its like again. Properly installed run-off channels, flanges, sealants, appropriate materials and meticulously fitted parts are the keys to keeping water out of your home and walls. We know this, and we wish all builders did too.
The beautiful natural-wood shiplap that we used to trim out the ceiling and the custom built skylight made for the ultimate happy ending to this story.
